Delivery of the Distributed System of Scientific Collections (DiSSCo) will rely on collaborative and distributed working across European institutions, including in particular the sharing of scarce technical specialist skill sets. One option for this is the use of secondment – the assignment of someone to a different team or institution for a fixed period, usually to undertake a particular task. This report examines examples of secondment schemes and suggests an approach to secondment in the DiSSCo context – which should offer tangible benefits for DiSSCo, as well as normal secondment benefits to the individuals and institutions involved. Other options for skills sharing and collaborative working include distributed working, and this will be examined further in the future work of Task 3.3 of DiSSCo Prepareen_US
